OUR BELIEFS & OUR SAVIOR, JESUS

While we consider and accept residents from all faith backgrounds, our core teaching is traditional Christianity. We use the Southern Baptist Faith and Message as our doctrinal guideline and our home church is First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi.
Here's the story of Jesus and how you can know Him personally:
Jesus Christ can personally fill you with meaning and purpose and hope, both in this life and forever. Jesus can do this because He is God come to earth. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us.
The story of Jesus in the Bible makes all of this clear. When Jesus was born of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, it was really God Himself coming to live among us. Jesus lived, died and was resurrected from death as part of God's plan to make it possible for us to be forgiven for all the sinful things we have done.
Since God is holy, there is punishment for these sinful things. Our sins always come back to haunt us. They cause our lives to be full of guilt, anxiety and pain. Even worse than that, being an enemy of God while we live and being separated from God eternally in Hell after we die, are the ultimate punishments we face without forgiveness from God.
Here's the Good News! Jesus never sinned and when He died on the the cross, the sacrifice of His life made it possible for you to be forgiven. When you receive this forgiveness personally, two great truths belong to you: you don't have to be afraid to live and you don't have to be afraid to die. When you trust Jesus with your life and soul, He offers you the power of His presence in your life on this earth and the promise of living in Heaven with Him forever after you die.
Jesus wants to forgive you and His gift of forgiveness is for all Eternity. The gift is free and it is received through God's grace by faith in Jesus. You can't earn it or deserve it. You can't inherit it or get it by doing good things. This forgiveness is a gift that you have to personally accept. Don't wait any longer. If you have never received Jesus' gift or you are not sure if you have, go ahead and tell God something like this: "Dear God, I ask you to forgive me for my sins. I turn away from those bad things in my life. I believe with all my heart and soul that Jesus is your Son. I believe that He died for me, and you raised Him to life again. I believe that He took my punishment for me and gives me the gift of eternal life forever. I put my faith in Jesus and I accept this gift. I receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior."
If you have just made this commitment, please contact us and tell us about it, so that we can rejoice with you!
